Man accused of attempted murder of baby tells court it was 'an accident'
A man accused of attempting to murder a baby in Co Fermanagh told police the boy's injuries were an accident, a court has heard.
Timuras Koslov (20) of Derrychara Drive in Enniskillen, appeared at Omagh Magistrates' Court charged with the attempted murder of the boy on May 6.
A defence solicitor told the court that during four police interviews the Lithuanian national claimed the incident "was an accident".
He added: "(The defendant) has co-operated with police in terms of answering all questions. He is not known to police in this jurisdiction or Lithuania."
Speaking through an interpreter, Kozlov, who is employed locally, replied "yes" when asked if he understood the charge.
A detective constable told the court she believed she could connect the defendant to the charge.
Kozlov, dressed in a grey tracksuit, was remanded in custody after his lawyer said he was not applying for bail.
He will appear at Enniskillen Magistrates' Court by videolink on May 22.
Police said earlier that the incident occurred at another address in Enniskillen on Saturday evening.
The baby, who is understood to be about six months old, sustained serious injuries. He is in a stable condition at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast.
