Man (69) killed after his car collided with a ditch

A man has died after the car he was driving in collided with a ditch over the Bank Holiday.

The incident happened yesterday at around 3pm at Castlegal, Cliffoney, Co Sligo.

The 69-year-old driver of the car was its only occupant. There were no other injuries in the incident.

The victim's body was taken to Sligo University Hospital, where a post mortem is due to take place.

Gardai completed a technical and forensic examination of the scene.
