Man (55) killed after car crash in early hours of this morning

A MAN has been killed after the car he was driving collided with another vehicle in the early hours of this morning.

Gardai are investigating the collision which occurred on the N17 at Cloonmore, Tuam, County Galway at approximately 2.20am.

The man (55) was pronounced dead at scene. His body has been taken to University College Hospital Galway where a post mortem is to be arranged.

The only passenger in the car and the male driver of the other car (20) were taken to University College Hospital Galway with non life threatening injuries.

The N17 is currently closed at Cloonmore Bridge, Tuam to facilitate Garda Forensic Collision Investigators. Diversions are in place.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to the collision or anyone who travelled the N17 at Cloonmore Bridge between 2am and 2.30am on 6th June 2015 to contact them at Tuam Garda Station on 093 70840, The Garda Confidential Line, 1800 666111 or any Garda Station.
