Man (50) killed in single vehicle accident where his 4x4 went off the road

A man (50) has been killed in a single vehicle collision at Corballa, Co Sligo earlier today.

The collision occurred at around 1am on a secondary road (L6606) off the main Sligo to Ballina Road.

The man's 4x4 went off the road and collided with an embankment.

The man driver (50) was pronounced dead at the scene his remains have been removed to the morgue at Sligo General Hospital. 

The road is now closed to facilitate an examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and local diversions are in place.
