A 37-year-old man has died and four others were injured in a two-car collision.

The dead man was a passenger in one of the cars which collided at Tullaskeagh, Roscrea, Co Tipperary, at around 7.30pm on Saturday.

He was taken to University Hospital Limerick where he was pronounced dead.

The driver of that car, aged in their 70s, and the three occupants of the second car, all male, were taken to University Hospital Limerick with minor injuries.

The scene of the crash, the R445 west-bound carriageway, was closed for a time to allow gardaí carry out a forensic collision investigation.

Gardaí have appealed for witnesses to the crash to contact Nenagh Garda Station on 067 50450, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666111, or any garda station.
