Man (34) 'critical' after stabbing attack

A 34 year-old man is critical in hospital after a serious attack this morning.

The man was discovered with serious stab wounds on Rockwood Parade in Sligo at around 10am today.

He was removed to Sligo Regional Hospital and he was later airlifted to University College Hospital, Galway.

Gardaí in Sligo are now investigating the serious assault, and the scene has been preserved for a technical examination.

Gardai have appealed for witnesses who were in the Rockwood Parade area this morning before 11am, or to anyone who can assist with this investigation, to contact them.
