Man (29) stabbed to death in Cavan

It is understood the man had just returned from Australia

A twenty nine year-old man was stabbed to death in Cootehill, County Cavan today.

The dead man was found by gardai in the kitchen of a three bedroomed two storey semi detached house at Lodge View estate in Cootehill at 1.05am on Sunday morning. 

He has been named locally as Emmet Connolly, (29) of Rockcorry, Co Monaghan.  Another 29 year old man, a father of three originally from Dublin was arrested on Sunday morning and is being questioned by gardai in Bailieboro Garda Station in County Cavan in connection to the stabbing  under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act  1984.  

It is also believed that the dead man had only just returned from Australia.

Gardai undertook door to door enquiries in the estate seeking any information which may help their enquiries.
