Man (27) dies in farm accident where he fell from the roof of shed
A young man has died in a farm accident in Cork.
The 27 year old man suffered fatal injuries when he apparently slipped and fell from the roof of a farm shed on which he was working outside Macroom, Co Cork.
The accident occurred shortly before lunchtime on Wednesday.
It is understood the young man fell directly onto a concrete yard where he sustained critical head injuries.
Despite Gardaí and paramedics racing to the scene, the young man was pronounced dead before he could be transferred to Cork University Hospital (CUH).
His body was later transferred to CUH where a full post mortem examination was scheduled to be carried out by Assistant State Pathologist, Dr Margaret Bolster.
Gardaí said they are treating the incident as a tragic accident.
It is understood the young man was working on the sloping roof of a shed on the family farm when he slipped and fell.
In accordance with normal procedures, an investigation is underway by both Macroom gardaí and the Health and Safety Authority (HSA).
The young man's name will not be released until all relatives have been notified.
