A 22-year-old man has been charged with the murder of Edward O'Connor (41), who was killed in Finglas last Sunday.
He was shot repeatedly in the back as he walked away from a fist fight at Ballycoolin Road in Finglas, west Dublin, on December 11.
Gardai have confirmed the charges and the man in custody will appear before at the Dublin District Court tomorrow morning at 10:30am.
A second male and a female had also been arrest in connection with Mr O'Connor's death, but both have been released without charge.
Last Sunday, a fight had been arranged between two men, including Mr O'Connor's son Darren, to sort out a grievance between two families following an incident in a pub in Finglas earlier in the weekend.
The incident is part of an ongoing feud between the groups -- since a young woman made a complaint to gardai last year that she had been abused by Edward O'Connor when she was a girl. The DPP later directed against a criminal prosecution.
After the shooting, gardai had been searching for the 22-year-old man overnight. He was taken to Blanchardstown station where he was being questioned under section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act. Under this anti-gangland legislative measure, he can be held without charge for up to seven days.
