At around 10pm yesterday a van was stolen from the Georges Street South area by two men and two women.

The van was driven at high speed through the city and eventually came to a stop in Ranelagh Village after colliding with a number of vehicles.

Two men and two women in their late teens were arrested at the scene and brought to Pearse Street and Irishtown Garda Stations where they were detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.

The 19 year-old will appear before Court number 3 at The Criminal Courts of Justice today at 10.30am charged in relation to the incident.

One man remains in custody in Pearse Street while one girl was released without charge in the early hours of this morning.

An 18 year-old woman has been charged, released on bail and is scheduled to appear before court at a future date.

During the garda chase, five cars – two parked and three moving - were damaged.

The drivers of two of the cars, two men, were injured and taken to St Vincents and St James Hospitals with minor injuries.

Gardai wish to appeal for witnesses to this incident to contact Donnybrook Garda Station on 01 6669200, The Garda Confidential Telephone Line 1800 666 111 or any Garda station.
