An 18-year-old man remains in hospital today after being hit by a Luas tram in Tallaght.

The incident happened near the Cheeverstown stop on the Red Line at around 8.30pm last night.

The man was crossing the "segregated tracks", which is off-limits to pedestrians, between the Cheeverstown and Citywest stops, when he was struck.

A Luas spokeswoman said he was unconscious but "stable" when he was brought to Tallaght Hospital.

His injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

The incident occurred a day after mother-of-one Yao Webster (35) was killed in a freak accident after a car collided with a Luas tram at the intersection of Abbey Street and Jervis Street.
