Male cyclist killed in tragic road accident

Gardaí at Rathcoole are investigating the death of a male cyclist following a road accident in Co Dublin earlier this evening.

The male pedal cyclist, in his late 30s, was knocked to the ground on City West Road at Brownsbarn Roundabout at Saggart at approximately 5.20pm this evening.

He was removed by ambulance from the scene to Tallaght Hospital where he later died. 

The road remains closed while a forensic collision examination is taking place.

Gardai are appealing for witnesses to the collision or who may have been in the area of City West Road between 5.20pm and 5.30pm this evening.
