The entire northbound section of the M11/M50 has been closed as a Gardai forensic collision team examines the scene.

It is understood that the collision involved a motorcycle and another vehicle.

The motorcyclist was brought to hospital with serious injuries.

There were reports of traffic tailbacks through Shankhill and towards Bray town, and AA Roadwatch advised motorists to avoid the N11 if possible.
Dublin Bus also reported delays.

“We’re asking people to keep away from the area, and to stay in the cars if they're stuck in traffic on the M50," a Garda spokesperson said this morning.

"We expect the sections to reopen today around 4pm."
