Majella to fly home for breast cancer operation
MAJELLA O'Donnell will fly back to Ireland next month ahead of her planned double mastectomy, her husband has said.
Singer Daniel O'Donnell said his wife is having plenty of rest at their holiday home in Tenerife ahead of the operation.
Majella underwent treatment for cancer last year before having her hair shaved off on the 'Late Late Show' to raise €500,000 for the Irish Cancer Society.
She has opted to have the double mastectomy to prevent the return of cancer.
"At the minute, Majella and I are in Tenerife and we've been here since New Year's Eve. My holiday is almost coming to an end as next Tuesday we start our UK shows," said O'Donnell.
"We really haven't been doing much since we got to Tenerife other than relaxing and we have really enjoyed this time together.
"I'm glad to say Majella is feeling well at the moment. She will return home on February 4 as she is scheduled to have her mastectomy in the coming weeks.
"Even though I'm going to be away during this time we are very lucky she has so many people around to support her," added the singer.
O'Donnell also revealed that his mother Julia has been ill again and has been treated at the community hospital in Dungloe.
"My mother is doing well and thank God everything is good with us," he said.
