Macnas -- truly a thing of fierce beauty
THEY are the group of performers who have become synonymous with the Galway Arts Festival.
Members of Macnas took to rehearsals yesterday as they prepared themselves for the annual festival, which will take to the streets of the city later this month.
The infamous group will perform 'This Fierce Beauty', a free street theatre parade, at the event which runs between July 11 and 24.
Directed by Noeline Kavanagh, the parade has been described as suitable for all ages and is the latest show piece in the 23-year history of Macnas.
The performances are called the centrepiece of the arts festival and it is expected to involve hundreds of people.
Pictured at the rehearsals yesterday were Sejal Pachisia, Katie Coghalan, Mark Watter and Shaun Leonard.
'This Fierce Beauty' will begin at Spanish Arch travelling to Quay Street, High Street, Shop Street, William Street, Eglinton Street, and finally to the Fisheries Field, on July 17.
