Lucky Kerry man scoops €20k on scratch card he bought at service station
A Kerry man who won €20,000 on a scratch card was so eager to collect his winnings, he drove straight up to Dublin before telling his family or girlfriend.
Liale Holland had pulled in at a petrol station in Dingle to fill up his van when he decided to buy a scratch card and a ticket for the EuroMillions €100m jackpot.
He couldn't believe his eyes when he scratched his way to a €20,000 win on the €20 All Cash Extravaganza.
The lucky scratch card was bought at Moran's Supermarket on Mail Road, Co Kerry.
"I had such a lucky feeling when I was putting fuel in my van this morning. When I was at the till, I bought the scratch card and a ticket for the EuroMillions €100 million jackpot. And who knows, I might be back for my EuroMillions prize tomorrow," he said.
He added: "When I found out that I had won, I just got straight on the road to Dublin to collect my winnings. My family have no idea where I am and I still haven’t even told my partner."
Mr Holland is currently saving for a mortgage and said the money will go a long way.
"It’s my partner’s birthday at the weekend so we will celebrate in style."
Other scratch card winners through National Lottery offices today included a €25,000 prize on a €10 All Cash Spectacular scratch card which was sold at Daly’s Newsagents in Claremorris, Co. Mayo.
A €20,000 scratch card prize was also paid to a winner who purchased their winning €2 Money Multiplier 5X scratch card at the Londis Store in Lifford Co. Donegal.
