Three people were rescued off the coast of Cork this evening after their fishing boat started sinking during poor weather conditions.
The incident happened 20 miles off the West Cork coast at around 5:45pm when a 60ft fishing vessel started taking in water at a rapid speed.
The crew of three launched the mayday alert and a lifeboat from the Courtmacsherry RNLI made it to the scene at around 6:40pm.
Irish Naval vessel LE Niamh, as well as a Coast Guard helicopter from Waterford, also took part in the rescue.
The lifeboat then towed the damaged fishing vessel to Union Hall in Cork.
Sea conditions were poor, with strong winds and poor visibility, so the crews were not expected to arrive to Union Hall until 10:30pm.
There were no injuries.
