A MAN had a lucky escape after his Range Rover was seriously damaged when it collided with a crash barrier on the N11 at the weekend.

The man in his 20s survived the crash but had to be airlifted to hospital in Tallaght, south Dublin, after the accident near Scratenagh in Co Wicklow at about 8.25am on Saturday.

Meanwhile, members of the Wicklow Mountain Rescue team were able to zero in on the precise location of a hillwalker who went missing yesterday using smartphone technology.

The experienced hillwalker in his 50s became disoriented when he was descending from the Lugnaquilla mountain.

Using technology known as SARLOC, the team was able to pinpoint the man's location from his smartphone to escort him safely off the mountain.
