ARTISTS can now live in creative peace without worrying how to pay the rent.
The country's first subsidised living spaces for artists has been launched in Limerick.
The new scheme helps artists live and work in subsidised accommodation, to allow them to enhance the cultural and commercial life of Limerick.
Minister for Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht Jimmy Deenihan launched the Artists' Apartments at John's Square.
The department provided €384,321 towards the refurbishment of eight artist apartments.
Mr Deenihan said: "The Artists' Apartments will make a real contribution to the creative vitality of Limerick City. They will be a vibrant presence in John's Square, complementing both the cultural and commercial life of the city."
