THIS was the scene in Dublin’s city centre today after a car crashed into the side of a Luas tram.

The collision occurred at the junction of Capel Street and Abbey Street on the Red Line shortly before midday.

The black BMW car sustained some damage to the side, while the Luas sustained minimal damage.

No serious injuries were reported.

The car’s occupant was not injured and the Luas driver was taken to hospital for precaution.

The area was sealed off and services on the Luas Red Line was disrupted for some time as well as traffic in the Capel Street area.

Services had resumed by 12.30pm with no major delays.
