Luas drivers to go ahead with strike, warns Siptu president

Luas drivers will push ahead with strike action on Wednesday with no further talks expected beforehand, according to Siptu president Jack O'Connor.
The Siptu chief has dismissed talk that Luas drivers will look for a previously rejected 18pc pay rise to be retabled, and called for intervention from acting Transport Minister Paschal Donohoe.
Mr O'Connor was attending the May Day parade for trade unions, organised by the Dublin Council of Trade Unions (DCTU), which included a march from the Garden of Remembrance to Liberty Hall.
DCTU president Tom Simpson said the march was important every year, but carried extra significance because of their members who died during the Rising.
