A LUAS driver is to face a judge and jury next month after being charged with dangerous driving in connection with a collision between a tram and a double-decker bus in Dublin that left a woman seriously injured.
Oriyomi Emmanuel (37), of Jamestown Park, Ratoath, Co Meath, appeared at the Dublin District Court yesterday charged with one count of dangerous driving causing serious bodily harm. He was also charged under the Railway Safety Act 2005.
Mr Emmanuel was remanded on bail until his next court appearance on July 28. He was also granted legal aid.
The crash between the tram and a Dublin Bus occurred at the busy junction of O'Connell Street and Middle Abbey Street on September 16 last year.
The force of the impact caused the tram to derail and 26 people were injured.
