'Love/Hate' star back

'LOVE/HATE' actor Killian Scott has told of his excitement returning to the set of RTE's gangland hit and expressed his relief that his character has so far survived.

Speaking to the Irish Independent at the premiere of his movie 'Black Ice', as part of the Jameson Dublin International Film Festival, the 27-year-old said he's looking forward to getting back into his role as Tommy when the series begins production on February 25.

Boost for donor drive

GAA STAR Joe Brolly has said the campaign to change the law on organ donation in the North and South has received a "massive boost" after a meeting with the influential Dail Committee on Health in Dublin.

"This means it is assumed that a person who meets an untimely death will donate their organs, but the family will have the ultimate say," Mr Brolly said. The Dail Health Committee will now hold a series of public hearings on the issue, the first being on April 14.

Brother on sex charge

A 65-YEAR-old man has been charged with 18 counts of indecent assault dating from the 1980s in a primary school.

A sitting of Mullingar District Court heard Brother Thomas McCarry of Clareville, Finglas Road, Glasnevin, Dublin was arrested at his home at 6pm on Wednesday and taken to Mullingar Garda Station. The accused was remanded on bail to appear before a sitting of Mullingar District Court in April.

€7m for flood defence

CONTRACTS for the construction of a €7.1m flood defence system for the town of Ennis has been signed, more than three years after the devastating floods of November 2009.

The project is expected to take 18 months to complete.
