Lotto jackpot soars to €15m

One lucky punter could wake up €15m richer on Sunday as the National Lottery stumps up its biggest jackpot so far this year.

The record Lotto loot has being rolling over since March 10, with €2m added for St Patrick's weekend and another €2m laid on over Easter.

A National Lottery spokeswoman said ticket-sellers were bracing themselves for a busy weekend.

"From previous record jackpots, we would forecast that over 80,000 Lotto plays per hour will be processed in Lotto agent stores on Saturday evening for this record jackpot," she added.

"This Saturday will be its ninth draw and, for the last month, it has given people all over Ireland the chance to dream about what they would do if they won €15m."

The largest Lotto jackpot so far this year was €7,457,357.

It was won in January by Michelle Ryan, from Athlone, Co. Westmeath.
