Lotto jackpot not won

THERE was no winner of last night's €2.4m Lotto jackpot. The numbers drawn were 3, 5, 9, 13, 25, 42 and the bonus was 39. Nor was there any winner of the €350,000 Lotto Plus One draw. The numbers were 6, 7, 12, 20, 32, 39 and the bonus was 29.

The €250,000 Lotto Plus Two draw was not won. The numbers were 17, 27, 29, 31, 43, 44 and the bonus was 13.

Boy (15) dies on farm

A TEENAGE boy has died after a farm accident in west Cork. The 15-year-old apparently suffered crush injuries when he was accidentally caught between a tractor and a piece of machinery.

The accident occurred outside Skibbereen shortly after 5pm yesterday. Despite frantic efforts to save him, the boy was pronounced dead on arrival at Cork University Hospital. A file will be prepared for the coroner but gardai described the incident as a tragic accident.

Septic tank warning

Gardai and the Department of Environment are urging homeowners to be vigilant after bogus septic-tank inspectors called to properties in the midlands. A Department of the Environment spokesman said septic-tank inspections had yet to begin.

The warning follows incidents in Co Longford in recent days where men claiming to be septic-tank inspectors have been calling to properties. The men fled when they were asked for identification.

Two appear in court

Two men have appeared in Dungannon magistrates' court in Co Tyrone, charged with possessing criminal property. Paschal Kelly (47) and Jonathan Gill (31), both originally from the northside of Dublin, appeared before the court yesterday.

A bail application by the defence was adjourned until Monday in Enniskillen court to allow for the defence to find a suitable bail address for the accused. District Judge Bernie Kelly granted both men legal aid for the hearing but told them that they would have to apply for further legal aid at a future sitting.

Man's face is slashed

A man may require plastic surgery after being slashed in the face and neck in a city-centre assault. The 27-year-old suffered stab and slash wounds to his face, neck, chest and shoulder after being attacked at 2.30am yesterday near the junction of Maylor Street and Patrick Street in Cork.

He is in a stable condition. Gardai are understood to be following a definite line of inquiry.
