SATURDAY'S Lotto jackpot is heading for €4m after the midweek draw failed to find a winner.
The numbers were 3, 12, 29, 38, 41 and 43. The bonus number was 1. There was also no winner for the top €350,000 prize in the Lotto Plus 1 Draw. The numbers were 1, 11, 16, 20, 22 and 37. The bonus number was 39.
One winner took the top €250,000 prize in the Lotto Plus 2 Draw. The numbers were 2, 17, 26, 30, 39 and 40. The bonus number was 32.
Veteran reporter dies
TRIBUTES were paid to one of Ireland's longest-serving regional reporters, John Murphy, who died after a short illness.
Mr Murphy (71) worked for almost 50 years for 'The Cork Examiner'/'Irish Examiner' as well as for the 'Dungarvan Observer' and the 'Waterford News & Star'. He supplied his final column for the 'News & Star' on Monday before falling ill and passing away in Waterford Regional Hospital early yesterday morning.
Sex abuser dies in cell
A SEX abuser, who was found unconscious in his cell at Portlaoise Prison, apparently died from a heart attack. Staff discovered 61-year-old Sean Leamy on Tuesday night and tried to revive him.
Three investigations are being carried out by the gardai, the Irish Prison Service and the Inspector of Prisons, Judge Michael Reilly. Leamy, of Tulla, Co Clare, was sentenced to six years' imprisonment last May for sexually abusing five boys.
Art funds fall from Sky
SKY Arts, a division of the leading home entertainment and communications company, is offering €230,000 to fund a new Irish project.
As well as the funding, Sky Arts will work with the winning organisation to bring the chosen project to a wider audience on screen and on the ground, as well as providing marketing and new media support.
