Local police insist probe 'going well'

ASSISTANT police commissioner Vuddamalay Pregarsen insisted yesterday their investigation was progressing well.

Scientific analysis of samples taken from the scene is continuing but he declined to say if any of the samples had been sent to more specialised labs off the island.

Police have said that Abinash Treebhoowoon had seen a purse with cash lying in the room and he and floor supervisor Sandip Moneea entered the room with the intention of stealing it.

The two allegedly entered the room on Monday afternoon but were disturbed by Michaela.

Ranjit Jokoo, investigating officer, said Mr Moneea met with his lawyer yesterday and they would record an interrogation in the coming days.

The suspects were at headquarters yesterday for a medical examination.
