THEY complained it always rained on them in RTE weather reports. But now Donegal County Council is launching its own weather site, the first local authority to do so.
The council wrote to the TV station, claiming the reports were hitting visitor numbers.
"We had a good summer in Co Donegal, but anyone watching RTE would have thought it rained all the time," said Letterkenny Mayor Dessie Larkin.
"The council has its own technology; we are going to use that technology to give accurate local weather conditions."
Met Eireann, which provides forecasts for RTE, disputed the claims made by the council.
Forecaster Pat Clarke said the 'sunny south east' had been replaced by 'the sunny north west' during the summer.
