Live Traffic Update: Black ice causing problems for motorists this morning

Ice is an issue on roads around the country this morning, with AA Roadwatch reporting that road temperatures are as low as -2 degrees Celsius in many areas.

Dublin

The N81 is currently closed both ways between the junction with N82 Citywest Road and Fortunestown following a crash.

A crash has been cleared inbound on the Ballymun Road at the Northwood Avenue junction.

There is another crash on the M50, with one lane between Junction 9 (Lucan) and Junction 7 (Red Cow) completely blocked.

There was a crash in the city centre on Kevin Street eastbound before the Cuffe Street junction.

The street is now fully open to traffic.

An accident is blocking a lane on the N7 Limerick/ Dublin Rd northbound between J10 Naas South and J9 Naas North.

There are delays on approach from J9. Gardai are en route.

There's  debris on the N7 Dublin/ Limerick Rd southbound between J7 Kill and J8 Johnstown.

Galway

Gardai dealt with a crash on the N59 Galway/ Clifden Rd at the Barna Rd junction.

The road has since been cleared but ice remains a problem on this route.

Gardai say most routes travelling into and around Galway City are affected by ice this morning.

Mayo

Gardai are advising care on the N60 Castlebar/ Claremorris Rd due to icy conditions; particularly between Manulla and Balla.

Cork

School bus services are disrupted in Mallow and Kanturk this morning due to icy conditions on roads in the area.

Icy conditions have been reported this morning on the N71 Skibbereen / Bandon Rd, particularly at Clonakilty and also further north between Ballinascarty and Pedlar's Cross.

Ice is a problem on the Watergrasshill/ Rathcormac Rd (R639).

Kerry

Motorists are reporting patches of ice on the N22 Tralee/ Killarney Rd between Tralee and Farranfore.

Clare

A multi-vehicle colission on the N18 Northbound between Junction 7 Sixmilebridge and Junction 8 Ballycasey is blocking the left lane.

Icy on the N85 Ennis Bypass between Clare Abbey R/A and the M18 at J12 Killow and also further west between Ennis and Ennistymon Rd.

Kilkenny

Frosty and slippery road conditions particularly on secondary routes around Kilkenny City.

 

Meanwhile last night Met Éireann issued a Status Orange Snow Warning for Donegal, Leitrim, Mayo and Sligo.

Snow accumulations of between 4 and 8 cm were forecast, with the largest amounts falling on high ground.

A Status Yellow Snow Warning was also issued for counties Longford, Cavan, Monaghan, Galway and Roscommon, with snow accumulations of up to 4cm forecast.
