Little Ella to stand out from herd with place in record books
A tiny Irish cow named after an RTE presenter will make a move for the record books as the smallest on the planet.
Dexter cow Ella stands at just 31 inches tall – which is two inches shorter than the previous record holder, called Swallow from England.
Farmer Henry Judge said he named his cow after RTE's 'Ear to the Ground' presenter Ella McSweeney because she was at his farm on the day Ella's mother calved.
Mr Judge said he is confident that three year-old-Ella will secure her slot in next year's 'Guinness Book of Records', adding that she will live out the rest of her days on the farm – in spite of the worldwide fame she looks set to enjoy.
