Lion Zebo gets arty for Donal's charity
BEING part of the Lions squad wasn't all about relaxing at an Australian holiday resort in between test matches.
Simon Zebo (23) spent some of his time painting – to fulfil a promise he made to his friend, Co Kerry teenager Donal Walsh.
The Munster and Ireland winger was just one of a number of players, celebrities and artists who were inspired by Donal to put brush to canvas.
Although Donal lost his battle with cancer in May, his message about suicide prevention is thought to have saved countless lives. Donal, pictured left, was also an advocate for improved cancer care and thousands of euro has been raised in his name for Crumlin Children's Hospital.
And the celebrities' efforts will be offered for sale at auction for €100 – the only catch is, the buyer will not know beforehand whose work they're purchasing. The money raised will go towards Kerry Hospice Foundation's plan to build a palliative care unit at Kerry General Hospital in Donal's native Tralee.
Before he died, Donal had already enlisted the help of his rugby friends, including Zebo and Paul O'Connell.
