Gigi Lee, the American woman who did not have a baby with rock singer Van Morrison, has resigned as a director and secretary from one of his music companies.

The entertainment industry was rocked last Christmas when hackers posted a report on Morrison's official website that he and Texan beauty Gigi Lee had announced the birth of a baby named George Ivan Morrison III.

Morrison has a home in Killiney, Co Dublin, where he lives with Michelle Rocca, a former beauty queen with whom he has two children.

Neither Morrison nor Ms Rocca have commented on the controversy so far.

But the birth was later denied by well-known Dublin public relations executive John Saunders, who said he was speaking on behalf of the Belfast-born singer.

Ms Lee acted as a production executive on a Van Morrison tour of the US and is usually resident in Texas.

According to papers filed in the company's office in London last week Gigi Ann Lee resigned as a director of Morrison's Listen to the Lion Music Publishing Ltd at the height of the 'baby' controversy last January.

The company, which is based in Baker Street, London, lists the other director as George Ivan Morrison, born in August 1945. He is listed as British but usually resident in the US . 'Van' Morrison, as he is known, is listed as a musician and a director of Exile Productions Ltd.

As well as a house in Killiney, Morrison and Ms Rocca also have a property in Bath, England.
