Lawyers set to 'strike' today

A ONE-DAY 'strike' at the Criminal Courts of Justice in Dublin will proceed today, despite an eleventh-hour appeal by Justice Minister Alan Shatter.
The withdrawal of services by lawyers whose clients receive legal aid is a protest against what they claim is a refusal by Mr Shatter to meet with the recently formed Criminal Legal Practitioners Organisation.
Up to 150 solicitors and barristers are set to take part.
Regional court services will not be affected. Last night the Courts Service said cases listed at the Criminal Courts of Justice would go ahead.
