Last-minute drama for the WAGS too
THE last-minute drama at the Ryder Cup resulted in a fashion headache for the European WAGs, whose formal outfit for the closing ceremony didn't get the air time it deserved.
Irish designer Paul Costelloe had designed a formal suit to be worn if success was on the way.
The suit comprised of a navy blazer with lapels trimmed in white, more Ralph Lauren than Jedward. The jacket was worn with navy trousers and a white drawstring blouse or polo top.
However, if the US were on course for victory the strategy was to stay in their on-course, colour-blocked casual wear.
By mid-afternoon, the European WAGS clearly weren't scenting victory and remained watching the action wearing navy or white jeans, jeans-style skirts and tops in nautical colours or electric blue.
But with Martin Kaymer's putt on the 18th green to defeat Steve Stricker came the fashion challenge to get back to the clubhouse ASAP.
On stage after the dramatic win, the partners could be glimpsed wearing their navy blazers.
But the designer will have been disappointed they didn't get a better show on the day.
