Larry Hagman was 'unforgettable' on day he met 4,500 Irish fans
THE businessman who brought Larry Hagman to Ireland has paid tribute to the "unforgettable" late actor on his company's website.
William Doyle, boss of Newbridge Silverware, hosted the former Dallas star twice on visits to Ireland.
Staff at Newbridge's landmark store, which Hagman visited in April 2008, expressed great sadness and recalled the actor's warmth and friendliness in a tribute posted on the website. Mr Hagman (81) died last Friday due to complications in his cancer battle.
Mr Doyle hosted Mr Hagman and his wife Maj along with his co star Linda Gray, who played his wife Sue Ellen in the show. Mr Hagman and Ms Gray also set a record in the company's Visitor Centre on Cutlery Road, Newbridge, meeting and being photographed with 4,500 fans in one day
Marketing manager Phil Donnelly said: "With pure humility, great warmth and a deep appreciation of their loyal fans, Larry and Linda made several appearances.
"The unforgettable image of Larry wearing his 10-gallon Stetson, as he greeted thousands of adoring fans in our Museum of Style Icons, will always remain with us."
