Labour's Ciaran Lynch given €10,000 finance post
Tanaiste Eamon Gilmore has moved to fill the €10,000-a-year post left vacant after the resignation of junior minister Roisin Shortall.
The Oireachtas Finance Committee had been chaired by Dublin South TD Alex White but he had to step down when he was promoted to replace Ms Shortall.
Mr Gilmore has now given the post to Labour Cork South Central TD Ciaran Lynch.
Mr Lynch said he was honoured to be proposed as chair of the committee, which is considered the most influential in the Dail after the Public Accounts Committee.
"It's a committee that has a work schedule which will focus on very significant matters such as job creation," he said.
