A 15-YEAR-OLD boy, who was detained for four months after he was caught carrying a knife and following women in Dublin city, is to appeal his sentence.
The boy, who has 35 previous convictions, had his appeal papers lodged yesterday at the Dublin Children's Court, which had imposed the custodial sentence on him last month.
During his hearing earlier, the court had been told the boy, then aged 14, had been at large from custody when he was noticed carrying a blade in the early hours of February 18 at Oriel Street.
The teenager had pleaded guilty to possessing the knife as an offensive weapon.
Det Garda Peter Nestor had told the court a man who ran a youth club in north inner city Dublin had spotted the boy.
He was arrested nearby and brought back to the juvenile detention facility from which he had escaped.
