FINE Gael leader Enda Kenny is in mourning over the loss of a personal friend who has been his driver for the past nine years.
Castlebar native Liam Coady (64) died suddenly late on Friday night while on holiday in London.
A former member of the old Castlebar Urban Council, Mr Coady enjoyed a close friendship with Mr Kenny and was very popular around the Dail.
Mr Coady is survived by his wife, Kathleen, and his daughter, Regina.
Mr Kenny was on a family holiday in Italy when the news broke of Mr Coady's sudden death.
He is said to be devastated by the loss and is making arrangements to return to Ireland for the funeral later this week.
It is understood that it will be Wednesday before Mr Coady's remains can be repatriated to Ireland for burial.
