A kangaroo or wallaby is reportedly on the loose in Co Tyrone.

PSNI officers posted to the Dungannon and South Tyrone Facebook page: "Last night we received a report of a 'small kangaroo' on the road between Moy and Dungannon.

"We weren't able to locate anything that resembled a kangaroo so just wondered if anyone else saw it, or knows of any living in the area?"

Cue countless kangaroo puns about police being 'hopping mad'...

But if the report sounds like a wind up, it wouldn't be the first time a marsupial has been on-the-run in Northern Ireland.

A wallaby and baby joey escaped their home in Clough, Co Down, in March last year. Sadly they were later found dead.

A number of farms in Dungannon and Craigavon have wallabies, which are smaller than kangaroos, as a visitor attraction.
