Just another ice day at the office for a good cause
For someone who has had no time for a summer holiday before Winning Streak returns to our screens this weekend, Marty Whelan was looking remarkably refreshed and sprightly. Almost, you might say, as though he had been on ice.
Still nursing his chills after taking part in the 'Ice Bucket Challenge' social media craze, Marty wasn't pulling any punches about how bad it had been. "It was horrendous," he said, admitting the water had trickled down into his pants.
It seems every celebrity worth their salt is taking part - even former US president George W Bush, after he was nominated golfer Rory McIlroy.
The uniquely fresh feeling was shared by the crew at independent.ie, as five staff were well-doused with three hefty buckets. Over €500 was immediately raised amongst staff.
Six One presenter Sharon Ni Bheolain also faced her own icy fears last night, when she raised over €1,000 for the Irish Motor Neurone Disease Assocation.
The challenge has raised more than €16,000 to date. Text MND to 50300 to donate €2 to the IMNDA.
