Journalist Ella Shanahan dies
THE death has occurred of Ella Shanahan (60), one of the most high-profile agricultural journalists of her generation.
Ms Shanahan was the first female agriculture correspondent in the country when she was appointed to the position at the 'Irish Times'. She also worked at RTE and was the London editor of the 'Irish Times' from 1988 to 1991 before returning to Dublin to edit the Education and Living supplement.
She retired two years ago and is survived by her sister Frances and brothers Michael and Eddie.
