The man creating the Christmas magic at Brown Thomas for over 30 years has some tips for decorating your home this festive season:
John Redmond, Creative Director of the Brown Thomas Group, explains how to add an elegant touch to your tree:
"I prefer real trees for their smell. Always hang the biggest decorations first. Start at the top and work your way down, one at the top, two on the next line, and so on. Use green moss decorations to give it an outdoor feel. I also always use white decorations on my tree and love the red and white candy cane colour combination. I love crystal decorations, there are some great plastic alternatives, but they make the tree really sparkle. Fake snow can work if it's used sparingly and done right. I don't think tinsel is very luxury but it's better used with a matt finish. And I love a chain decoration on a tree, which you should hang last. Lights work well in warm white, no flicker; but if you want to, a tiny flicker can work well, not disco flashing.
