Jobs boost as companies announce 200 positions
ALMOST 200 new jobs were announced yesterday in three locations countrywide. The new positions will be created in Galway, Dublin and Portlaoise.
A US-based software company is to provide 50 jobs in Galway.
NEI -- supported by IDA Ireland -- is to establish a facility in Galway city.
The jobs will be in manufacturing and technology support and recruitment is already under way.
Tesco, meanwhile, is creating 93 positions at its Extra store in Portlaoise, which was officially opened yesterday.
The established Tesco store in the town was closed on April 23, with 121 members of staff transferring to the new store.
With the 93 new jobs, the total number of staff employed there is now 214.
Meanwhile, Dublin-based independent delivery company Nightline is also to increase its staff by 50 at its headquarters in Mygan Park, Finglas.
Nightline has received planning permission to increase its facility by 40pc to facilitate new business. The development will cost €5.5m.
