The Cork woman, who was born without limbs due to a rare genetic disorder, was speaking at the launch of the Hidden Heroes Awards 2016.

The awards aim to honour those who have made a significant contribution to Irish society, their community, workplace, family or through sporting excellence.

"I see first-hand the amount of work these people do," she said.

"These people just go ahead and do it, no matter what."

This year's winners will be announced on September 5.

Nominations in 10 categories are currently open until August 5.
