Ivor wooed voters with 'honesty' pledge
IVOR Callely boasted of his "honest" work ethic when he tried to get re-elected to the Dail for the first time.
Almost 20 years ago, the now embattled senator told voters that he was "typical of the new generation of public representatives".
But two decades later and there doesn't seem to be a whole lot of difference between Mr Callely and the infamous ghosts of Fianna Fail's past.
In his campaign literature for the 1992 general election, Mr Callely assured the constituents of Dublin North Central that supporting him would be a "vote for honest- to-goodness hard work and for strong representation".
Mr Callely's slogan back then was: 'Nobody does it better'.
Well, when it comes to expenses claims, it seems that he is certainly the best.
