What now for the 57,000 or so Leaving Certificate 2014 candidates ?
When they receive their results on Wednesday, August 13, the Irish Independent will be an essential read for students and their parents/guardians as they prepare for the next step.
Whether a desired college place is a virtual certainty, or it is a time to consider all options, the special 20-page supplement inside next Wednesday’s Irish Independent will offer information and advice to steer school-leavers towards the decision that best suits them.
Guidance counsellor Aoife Walsh, a weekly columnist with the Irish Independent, will cover a range of possibilities, both inside and outside the CAO , highlighting the many opportunities out there, even for those who have no idea about what to do.
There will be inspiring stories about existing third-level students, with example s of interesting journeys to college and the world of work.
For those anxiously awaiting the release of the CAO Round One offers on Monday August 18, and who are wondering whether their results put them in the ball-park for entry to a preferred course, the supplement will contain tables detailing last year’s cut-off points for Level 8 and Level 7/6 programmes, although students are advised that points can vary widely from year to year.
