It's the gift that keeps on giving as Joe backs children's hospital fund

THE perfect present for the friend who has everything just got better – give a One4all gift card this month and €1 goes towards cancer and heart care for sick children.

RTE presenter Joe Duffy was lending his support to the campaign yesterday to boost funding for Our Lady's Children's Hospital Crumlin.

"When a child you love is sick, your top priority is finding the best available care and the promise of a new children's hospital cannot divert our attention away from the children who need our care now," he said.

"Ireland's sickest kids do not have time on their side. You only have to say the words Crumlin Children's Hospital and everyone in Ireland knows what you're talking about – helping sick children."

Professor Owen Smith, from the Department of Paediatric Haematology and Oncology at the hospital, stressed how tough the cancer journey is not only for the patient but also for family.

"The Fix Crumlin campaign is all about making that journey as smooth and palatable as possible and restoring dignity to all," he said.

The Fix Crumlin campaign has raised €4m, with another €4m required to renovate the cardiac and cancer care facilities.

Throughout March, One4all will donate €1 to Fix Crumlin for every €15 gift card purchased.
