'It's terrible and shocking' - Tributes paid to young athlete (17) who died in car accident

Tributes have been paid to a young athlete who passed away in a car accident on Friday.

Evan Brennan (17) died when the car in which he was driving hit a fence in Ballivor in Co Meath.

Mr Brennan was from Summerhill, Co Meath and was an avid GAA player.

Local Fine Gael councillor, Joe Fox, said the community have been left devastated by the tragedy.

"He was a lovely person and was from a lovely family.

"He was very involved in the GAA and was a credit to his parents."

Cllr Fox said the whole community are reeling in shock.

"Everyone is shocked by this terrible tragedy. It's terrible and shocking.

"My condolences to the family."
