The 10-strong Weavers Square syndicate from Baltinglass, Co Wicklow won the Lotto Plus 2 draw on May 22, and includes a father and son and a mother and two daughters.

"This win is particularly sweet because we are a close-knit community," member Sheila Fitzpatrick said. "We see each other most days. We're all great friends and some of us are related."

The lucky €20 Quick Pick ticket was bought in O'Reillys, Parkmore, Baltinglass, Co Wicklow.

A Wexford couple also picked up a €250,000 cheque at National Lottery headquarters yesterday after winning last Wednesday's Lotto Plus 2 draw.

"We've matched five numbers on two previous occasions, so it was about time we hit the jackpot," the unnamed husband said. A Dublin couple, who were just one number away from €15m in the EuroMillions draw collected €386,027.
