A TEEN who was missing for 48 hours after the Phoenix Park concert on Saturday was safely home yesterday but "exhausted and emotional".

The family of Cobh, Co Cork, teenager Aoife Finan (19) paid tribute to the gardai and media for highlighting their daughter's plight -- and for helping to get her home safely.

Her parents, Sinead and Eric, said they now want privacy to allow Aoife to fully recover.

"We can't find the words to express our thanks to the gardai and the media for all their help," Mr Finan told the Irish Independent. "It was every parent's worst nightmare.

"We want to thank everyone who helped.

"The priority is to give Aoife a bit of time and space. She was very tired and a bit emotional."

Aoife's mother went to Cobh garda station yesterday to give gardai details of where the teen was since Saturday night.

The family have declined to comment further. Gardai are understood to have no further involvement in the matter.

Aoife phoned her mother on Monday evening to say she was fine and on a bus from Dublin back to Cork.
